With over 15 years of programming knowledge, I have experience in a number of roles, including senior developer, release manager, scrum master, technical director, and have built and ran successful software related businesses. I have hired & trained developers and lead a number of teams on a range of projects. I am active in both the PHP, Symfony and Meteor communities - having given talks & workshops at conferences and local user groups on such subjects as Symfony, TDD, BDD, DDD and good practices. I am also an organiser for a local PHP user group, PHP East Midlands.I am comfortable in a number of languages such as Python, Java, C, Haskell etc. but my passion and core skill lies in web-related technologies such as the PHP & Node ecosystems.I currently prefer to work in a mix of the following technologies: - Backend: Node, Javascript, Meteor, PHP, Symfony, Doctrine, Nginx/Apache, Elasticsearch, PHPUnit, Behat and phpspec. - Frontend: React, Blaze, Websockets, jQuery, Bootstrap - Devops/other: Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Vagrant, CentOS/Ubuntu, Git/GitHub and of-course Bash!I am experienced in many other popular technologies and tools, including Magento, WordPress & Drupal, but prefer to avoid projects involving these off-the-shelf technologies, in favour of the more challenging business systems & applications.I have a passion for automation and devops, having written bespoke CI & deployment pipelines using a number of advanced technologies such as AWS, docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, TeamCity. I also hold a 1st Class BSc Honours in Software Engineering.I have lead projects for sole traders, all the way to working with multi-national companies and public sector contracts, including Norfolk County Council, Church of England, Speedo, BSM, TalkTalk, WSP Global, and many more.
