Rusty was involved at the Board level from June 2102 thru October 2014 and was actively involved in strategy and corporate and business development activities. He served as CEO from November 2012 to October 2013.

As EVP of Strategy and Marketing for Verisign, Rusty was responsible for the development of the company's annual stategic plans and oversees all marketing functions. Addtionally, he was responsible for Verisign's government affairs activities and strategic business partnerships. From Feb 2002 until January 2005, Rusty served as EVP and General Manager of VeriSign's Naming and Directory Services Group, the entity responsible for managing the database of all .com and .net names on the Interent. Prior to joining VeriSign, he ran a wireless transportation systems integration company for 15 years that was a leader in electronic toll collection systems using RFID technology and two-way radio communications networks. He acquired the company, Syntonic Technology, from Control Data in 1986 and served its President and CEO until 1994, when the company was sold to SAIC. Rusty ran the successor entity, TransCore, for SAIC until it was sold to a private equity firm in 1999. Prior to 1986, Rusty managed an oil and gas exploration subsidiary of UGI Corporation and was a Vice President of EF Hutton in the Municipal Finance group. He serves as Director of Delta Petroleum (symbol:DPTR). He also serves as principal for Lewis Capital Group, a private investment and business consulting entity that is a vehicle for personal investments. Rusty is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Haverford College and has a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.

Harrisburg, Pa

Rusty acquired a division of Control Data, Syntonic Technology, in 1986 in a leverage buyout and over the next 14 years grew the business into the largest integrator of electronic tolls systems in the world. Syntonic also had a significant presence in the two way radio communications business with several 800 Mhz trunked radio licensees. He served as President of NABER, a national trade association engaged in supporting the private land mobile radio business for several years until selling the two way radio business to a company that was later part of the Nextel rollup of land mobile radio businesses. That enable Syntonic to focus on extending its position as a leading provider of toll collection systems and services. He sold the business in 1994 to SAIC and continued as the CEO and President of a newly name wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC, Transcore where he acquired the major competitor in the toll collection business, making Transcore the #1 provided in this industry. He assisted SAIC in the spinning out the business to a private equity firm in 1999 and remained as a director until it was sold to Roper Industries in 2005, where it remains today as the industry leader in worldwide toll systems.
