After studying Mechanical Engineering at Brunel University I have taken on a design engineering role in a smaller company. This was to ensure I experience the design process as a whole, from talking to customers to get a complete design brief, prototyping possible solutions, contacting suppliers to get parts produced all the way through to detailing assembly drawings and instructions before handing them over production staff.During the start of my career, additive manufacturing has taken precedence. I have had the opportunity to work with the high-end machines within the technology sintering high performance alloys, as well as experience at the other end of the spectrum with my own polymer based fusion deposition modelling printer.I have always had the attitude such that when a task presents itself that is outside of my skillset, then I need to learn how to complete it rather than backing away from it. This has led to me becoming a well-rounded engineer. I feel that it is important to be able to complete both office based tasks, as well as being hands on in a workshop environment. I also work by the ethos, if a job is worth doing it is worth doing well, so when approaching a duty, I always do so with the best practicable method.Formally my qualification is BEng Mechanical Engineering with Automotive Design, where I have achieved an Upper Second Class Honours. During the degree, I completed a yearlong industrial placement as an intern for the laser processes team for General Electric.
