I believe in the power of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking that can take place both inside and outside of existing organizations. I promote these in both my teaching and research agendas.My research agenda focuses on the actions that individuals take on their journey to becoming entrepreneurs. Specifically, I focus on why aspiring entrepreneurs opt to take action to complete certain tasks while avoiding other tasks as they navigate their path towards startup. I research the roles of constructs such as mindset, fear of failure, entrepreneurial passion, and identity on whether these individuals take action to complete entrepreneurial tasks in the startup process.My secondary research stream focuses on how entrepreneurs (and their startups) can succeed in employee recruitment, particularly when they compete for talent with more larger, more well-known competitors.
