From the Bridge Foundation supports the writing and teaching work in my years of "retirement". In particular, this includes my work as a member of the Board of Trustees of Parami University, a startup, online, degree-granting liberal arts college for students in Myanmar.

Parami University was three weeks from breaking ground on a residential campus for 600 students when the military coup in Myanmar/Burma took place on 1 February 2021. Parami U has been reinvented as an online degree-granting higher education institution licensed in Washington DC. Our first Freshman class of 52 students just completed its first academic year. Our second Freshman class will have about 100 students.

The Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to pursue the policy research projects I intended to pursue when I joined Stimson.

Three books published by Brookings Institution Press: (1)Sovereign Debt Restructuring: the Case for Ad Hoc Machinery-2003; (2) Out of Business and On Budget: the Challenge of Military Financing in Indonesia--2007; (3) Myanmar/Burma: Inside Challenges, Outside Interests. Policy briefs and blog pieces on the G20, IMF/World Bank reform, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and international volunteering.
