Surveyed the environment using the windshield survey model through REDCap to assess the environmental conditions of Richmond’s section 8 project housing neighborhoods. Trained on how to properly assess and judge the environment and collected qualitative and quantitative data points. The longitudinal data captured here is used to assess the effects of community interventions on violence rates. The goal is to better the quality of life and reduce violence rates for youth and their families in Richmond, VA’s public housing communities.

Full life-cycle recruitment experience for an anticipated 15 waves of survey completion. Some of the means for recruitment included home visits, mailing, phone call, email, and text. Followed up with eligible individuals who screen in REDCap by all these means to reach the participants to get them set up for the survey. This process included recruitment, consent/assent, and sending links or conducting a phone survey. If the participant does not finish or start the survey within a few days, a scheduled follow up is conducted which includes all method of contact necessary. Meticulous documentation is kept in a mass excel database which includes all contact records for all households randomly selected for the survey. Scheduled and completed cash deliveries at the participant’s home where they filled out a W-9 form and received the cash which is the final stage of recruitment. Provided resources to families if they asked for our help. Professionalism, data entry, attention to detail in high volume data, REDCap, excel, data auditing, confidentiality, cash handling, and trauma-informed care are all necessary components of this job.
