Dissertation: Political Settlement Influence on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs): Critical Minerals in Chile & Peru

- Managed day-to-day activity for multiple accounts by fostering client relationships, developing messaging, and tracking policy activity on related issue areas (e.g., energy, climate crisis, chemical regulations, and foreign affairs)- Coordinated legislative briefings and fly-ins, serving as the point of contact, to position clients as thought leaders in their fields and update Congressional staff and Members of Congress on industry developments - Expanded firm’s environmental justice capacity by authoring a history and landscape analysis, mapping Administration priorities, inventorying third party stakeholders, and leading current/prospective client discussions - Created webinar deck and collateral materials for Fortune 500 companies to educate their customers on new government programs, encompassing multiple presentations and more than 10,000 unique participants nationwide- Streamlined Congressional stakeholder mapping across the firm by co-developing a facility footprint tool- Prepared client representatives to testify before Congress by arranging mock hearings and delivering talking points, Member backgrounders, and policy catalogs on areas of jurisdiction

I facilitated multiple forms of incoming and outgoing communication including 30-40 emails, phone calls, fax, and in-person visits per day. I worked primarily with the payroll department where I oversaw attendance, punch exceptions, employee meals, terminations, disciplinary write ups, and sign in sheets to maintain accuracy in payroll. Additionally I lead many other projects including updating and reorganizing office systems to maintain maximum efficiency within the office, writing a departmental manual to ensure consistency among office procedures, and creating multilingual document to assure all employees understand the rules and procedures for South Culinary. I also helped with university hiring for MSU Residential Hospitality Services at large; I lead the campus wide hiring fair and coordinated workers to best recruit new employees and traveled to different inner-city Michigan State locations to interview and select potential employees.

Provided assistance to Congressional office by guiding Capitol tours, answering phones, and organizing mail. Aided staff by documenting constituent correspondence on IQ and drafted future letters to individually address the constituents’ questions and concerns. Attended Congressional hearings and briefings in foreign affairs, education, appropriations, and defense then wrote corresponding memos for Legislative Staff.

I assisted in the scheduling, administration, and community outreach in the Low Income, Multi Family Housing, and Appliance recycling programs to continue success of organization. In addition, I contacted past program participants to assess experiences and analyze the statistics for further development of the programs. I organized historical documents and photos of the organization for forty-year anniversary of the non-profit. Lastly, I created small scale GIS projects to further enhance and conceptualize MEO outreach capabilities across the state.

For the first two months I studied Spanish language, sustainability and community engagement models, and Costa Rican history to enhance communicative skills and understanding of culture for future research project. For the second two months I engaged in community participatory research in a small rural community in Costa Rica to understand their needs strengthen the sustainable practices of the rural tourism association. To further develop the research I conducted one on one interviews, focus groups, and surveys to fully comprehend the extent of the tensions and needs of the community. To ensure this was a community-based project, I collaborated with community leaders to host a celebration of the community to both boost morale of associations and to gather more research on the community as a whole.

I attended Girls State during the summer of 2014 as a citizen and have returned each summer since as a counselor. My primary roles are to ensure the young girls have an understanding of the program and its history, accompany the attendees to each of the events throughout the week, and to facilitate conversation between the diverse group of girls in my city.
