As the Head of the EIDM theme/unit and member of Middle Managament team (MMT) at AFIDEP, I provide strategic leadership in the design and conduct of knowledge synthesis, policy analysis, political economy analysis, and knowledge translation; and design and delivery of capacity development interventions aimed at enabling EIDM as well as knowledge translation and policy engagement interventions aimed at supporting evidence uptake in decision-making.

• Through an evidence-based approach, I lead or co-work on existing research, conduct evaluations, and come up with an innovative approach to understand what works and how best they can be improved. • I contribute to research proposal writing and grant applications as required. • I lead on evidence synthesis i.e. systematic review, and rapid review and perform capacity building and mentoring on evidence-based research• Due to my experience and expertise in health programmes, I provide technical support on conceptualization all the way to the monitoring of health projects to analysis and report writing.• I work on various types of research including implementation research, impact evaluation research, and evidence research synthesis. • I lead in analysis using Stata as a software analysis for quantitative empirical research and Nvivo Software to analyses qualitative data thematically. • I have experience in data collection and analysis using an online data kit (ODK) called KOBO and Survey CTO, a software with enhanced reliability and validity that digitalised analysis.

Current responsibilities:• Contribute to Save the Children International (SCI) strategic development and delivery in strategic breakthrough on children’s health and child survival.• Lead the development and implementation of a coherent and coordinated research strategy on health programmes • Lead research, evaluations and innovations to understand what works in Somalia/Somaliland and how can they can be improved• Provide ideas and create new ways of framing or achieving policy changes • Contribute in mobilizing resources for programme and research • Lead the writing of proposals, presentations and pitches for new research contracts• Direct the development and delivery of research and evaluation services• Provide technical supports for monitoring of health projects• Line manage and mentor research associates to conduct research• Apply leading-edge thinking and best practice at all stages of the research process and ensure that SCI research and evaluation outputs are delivered to the highest standards, on time and on budget• Bring research, analytical and quality assurance expertise to projects, especially in the design, implementation and reporting stages

Current responsibility: UCT-VACFA • Evidence-Based Medicine research on vaccinology and public health research.• Preparation of systematic review manuscripts• Mentorship and co-supervision of student and faculty on systematic reviews• Assisting with on organization of annual African vaccinology course (VACFA) annually.• Play a major role in the Evidence--‐Based Medicine Research Support Unit (EBMRSU) at the University of Cape Town. The EBMRSU serves to assist UCT Faculty of Health faculty, postgraduate students and medical residents in completing systematic reviews and EBM--‐related activities as part of their training and theses. I am the front contact person in liaising with our clients, playing an active role in mentoring and supervising the conduct of systematic reviews, having one‐on-one sessions to assist them with the complete process from protocol writing stage to the submission of drafts for publication of reviews.
