About Leyla Yildirim
My name is Leyla Yildirim, and I am passionate about making a difference in the field of speech pathology. Currently, I am in my final semester of a Master of Speech Pathology at the University of Technology Sydney, and I am excited about the journey ahead. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with some incredible departments at the University of Technology Sydney, such as the Centre of Social Justice and Inclusion. In these roles, I have had the opportunity to be an Equity Ambassador, take on more leadership roles as a Senior Equity Ambassador and Peer Mentor, and coordinate science workshops for Year 11 and 12 students with my Bachelor of Medical Science background. One of my proudest achievements was hosting Orientation for the Autumn 2024 session, where I welcomed all new students to the University of Technology Sydney. This felt like a full circle moment for me as I was in their seats sitting in the crowd in 2019. I had the opportunity to provide advice I wish I was given and answer questions students had. This experience not only honed my skills in public speaking but also reinforced my commitment to delivering impactful experiences for everyone.I'm still discovering my clinical interests in speech pathology, but my work and personal experience with social justice are playing a significant role in shaping them. I believe that every individual deserves equitable access to communication resources, and I'm dedicated to advocating for and supporting all communities.Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I have a strong passion for reading, making candles, cooking and going on road trips with my friends. These hobbies not only fuel my creativity but also provide me with a balanced perspective that I bring into my work.I’m always eager to connect with like-minded professionals and share insights.#SpeechPathology#SLP2B#SLPStudent
