Learning new things drives my academic and professional pathways.Since I was a child I have been especially curious about the natural world, and that led me to pursue a licenciate degree in Biology. Looking for patterns in scientific phenomena drove me to specialize in Ecology, in which I hold a Master’s degree and a PhD, both from University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil). During my Master’s course, I discovered two fascinating topics: Statistics and Programming. This discovery made me realize that I wanted to work with Theoretical Ecology during my PhD, in which I used mathematical modelling and computer simulations to study the Evolution of Cooperation.During my graduate studies, I studied Data Science (especially Inferential Statistics) and Programming (especially Scientific Computing). I acquired solid experience in experimental design, hypothesis tests, Machine Learning and Data Storytelling, learning how to build explanatory and predictive models on various phenomena, and how to translate technical knowledge into actionable insights, recommending the best statistical techniques and decisions for interested parts.
