Lucas was involved with a multi-disciplinary project that included another geology intern. Lucas' portion of the project involved loading data for thousands of wells into ARIES, creating forecasts for those wells to arrive at EUR, and then creating EUR distributions grouped by completion type and reservoir. In addition, Lucas used the ARIES trend analysis functionality to create type curves for each field, completion type and reservoir. We then used some economic assumptions to create estimates for net present value. He further compiled these results into indivual summary sheets which the geology intern was able to link to their map locations on a map in ArcGIS. This created an interactive quick-screening tool that will be used by Venoco's New Ventures team. Lucas was well organized, punctual, proactive, and motivated. Lucas picked up concepts easily, including cashflow analysis for which he had not yet had a class in school. When Lucas had questions he would ask and when he came to areas that required a decision, he sought my direction. Lucas was very professional throughout the summer and gave a very good presentation to our senior management at the end.
