Ignacio Ortinez has more than 29 years of professional experience in landscape architecture throughout United States, Europe and Asia. He established estudioOCA offices in Barcelona in 2007 and Bangkok in 2011. His combined background in landscape architecture, entomology and sustainable agriculture, has a strong professional influence in his work. The applied ecology, and the study and research of sustainable natural systems, plays a fundamental part in the conception of his projects. Ignacio's project experience includes a combination and range of experiences from a wide variety of projects typologies, from conventional type of projects to sustainable landscape architecture design. His landscape architecture design work and professional experiences have been published in numerous books and international publications.Since 2007, Ignacio has been working as principal of estudioOCA, and previously, while working professionally in the United States, he has participated in the design of numerous projects, including many LEED certified projects. Ignacio has been invited to talk at universities, government institutions, and international events, about sustainability, landscape, and green infrastructure. In 2017 he was invited, as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on green infrastructures, at the Asian Development Bank-Rockefeller Foundation, Global Resilience Academy in Bangkok.In 2017 estudioOCA was awarded a grant from The Rockefeller Foundation, to develop a Green Infrastructure Master Plan for the city of Udon Thani in Northeast Thailand. Ignacio led the project, as well as a team that included landscape architects, engineers and geoscientists. The project methodology incorporates, the use of hydrological modeling to develop and design a green Infrastructure network for the city, to help mitigate flood and drought conditions. The project it encompasses as well, the design of ecological urban infrastructure and public spaces for the city: science, engineering and landscape architecture working together. After the development of the Green Infrastructure Master Plan for Udon Thani in 2017, and working with international partners such as ADB, GGGI, and others, Ignacio has led the design and development of international projects and initiatives, focused on sustainable design and development, such as the development of green infrastructure.
