PhdThales Nov 2008 - Nov 2011Palaiseau , FranceDuring my PhD between Thales Research and technology and Laboratoire de la Physique des Interfaces et des Couches Minces (a Polytechnique school Lab), I was in charge of developing a new kind of gas sensor based on carbon nanotube transistors. I set up a full process of fabrication of this kind of devices including carbon nanotube purchaising, achieving stable carbon nanotube inks, development of a large scale deposition process for thin nanotube films, clean room processing of wafer for electrode deposition, topological and electrical characterisation of the fabricated thin films and devices, chip packaging. After these steps, we were able to obtained arrays of thousands of sensors. The second innovation that I have initiated and developped during my thesis was the use of a matrix of transistors with differentiated metals as electrodes in order to achieve a high selective sensing. This idea allowed to achieve an electronics fingerprinting of the targeted gases working out the issue concerning a selective sensing. -
