Ovis Consulting is founded by Leo Schaap and provides independent advice and services for business and project development.Leo has been active for many years, nationally as well as internationally, in the development, marketing and sales of sensors, measuring equipment, telemetry and automation systems. Experiences were acquired from different functions and positions. Much experience was acquired with management and administrative processes in different business and public positions as well.His experience is the base for services to industry, end users and consultants in water and energy markets.

During the years different functions and positions; sales consultant, director and share holder. Was mainly responsible for marketing, sales and product development.The core business of Datawatt is alarming, controlling, measuring and automation of wide spread and remote installations and processes. Datawatt systems have been used for many years in projects for production and distribution of power and gas, for monitoring and switching of telecommunication links, as well as for controlling polder water level, waste water management and drinking-water supply. Extremely critical processes such as signaling and switching high-voltage installations, controlling of unmanned gas production platforms, as well as many other processes, are realized by experienced project teams from the Netherlands or by partners in other countries. Datawatt is a ISO 9001:2000 and VCA** certified company. For gathering data and local automation Datawatt develops and provides advanced products and software tools to turn the data into mimics, reports and decision support information for small to very large projects.Together with partners Datawatt builds and maintains turnkey systems including software development, consultancy and project management. Datawatt is furthermore very experienced in the integration of third party equipment and software as well.

Different public positions in public administration and non-profit organisations: 6 years as cofounder, treasurer and chairman of a large local organisation for youth work and cultural activities, 4 years as co-founder and committee member of a public library, 8 years as town council member, 7 years as member of provincial country planning commission for area South Holland West, 12 years as treasurer and chairman of large sport club for skating and tennis, 11 years as chairman of the supervisory board of a housing foundation.Several other positions as volunteer in charity and freetime.

Worked for Fugro Engineers Leidschendam in different functions:Electrical/electronic Engineer and Supervisor of the Instrument Workshop. Was involved with the design, development and maintenance of instruments and field equipment for on- and offshore geotechnical investigations. Development of new sensors such as for cone penetration, pore pressure, inclination, shear strength, etc. Development and engineering of components and equipment for analogue and digital recording and control of on land and subsea site investigation equipment.Manager Electronic and Instrumentation Department with many international contacts, sister companies, universities and suppliers. Department with 3 sections; transducers, development, maintenance and operations. Responsible for management, budget and technology. Development of state of the art sensors, measuring and control equipment, dynamic measuring systems and structural monitoring. Technology areas are; subsea equipment, mechanical/physical/chemical sensors, data-acquisition and software development for data-processing. Introduction of the first laboratory desk computers such as PDP8, HP9830 and HP85.International Project Coordinator Advanced Technology Department. Project coordination and management of international R&D projects for Fugro subsidiaries and clients. Most of the projects were related to state of the art development of measuring techniques, sensors, data-acquisition and subsea equipment including technology transfer and software development.
