I believe diversity can be used in both teaching and disability activism to overcome any obstacle. Like teaching, there is no standard fit for working with the needs of all people with disabilities. Everyone is unique and should be taught based on their skill set. I find great fulfilment in finding the right method of teaching my students as I do in finding ways to include people with disabilities into the community. My prior background has mainly focused on Post-Secondary Education. I've spent time as an Adjunct Instructor along with volunteering English Literacy and ESL for adult students. I've also spent several years as a freelance copywriter as well as research/data entry positions. These experiences helped me integrate practical applications to my teaching method. My educational background includes a Master's in Arts (English Literature) from Garnder-Webb University plus over ten credited hours towards a Teacher's Certificate in Secondary Education from UNC Charlottee, Currently, I volunteer as an English Tutor for the Blue Ridge Adult Literacy Center and serve as a board member for the Housing Department at Western Carolina Community Action.
