About Lucas Hv Van Der Woude
Lucas HV van der Woude (1954) is full professor in ‘Human Movement, Rehabilitation and Functional recovery’ and coordinator of the section ‘Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery’ of the Center for Human Movement Sciences, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen; as human movement scientist he is specialized in rehabilitation, exercise, assistive technology and ergonomics and has his main interests in wheeled mobility, upper body cyclic exercise, locomotion and skill development, and sports and handicap (www.rug.nl/staff/l.h.v.van.der.woude). In 2000 he was initiator and program leader of the clinical research network ‘Restoration of mobility in spinal cord injury rehabilitation’, based on among others a prospective cohort study (Umbrella project) and different nested experimental studies, and on the research program ALLRISC (www.scionn.nl). He is visiting professor at the Department of Sport Sciences, Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sports, Loughborough, UK and has an adjunct appointment at the Department of Rehabilitation of the UMCG, at the Human Engineering Research Laboratories of the School for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, USA, and at the Faculty of Kinesiology and rehabilitation Sciences of the KU Leuven in Belgium. He is recipient of the 2011 IPC Paralympic Scientific Award and co-authored over two hundred peer reviewed sci publications.
