Focus on cell biology and physiology in neuroscience and human organs with 14 years on academia and industry. Trained as neuroscientist with expertise on electrophysiology, iPSC, neural stem cells, in vitro cell models and animal behaviours, I now develop in vitro disease models for multiple organs, especially liver disease.Comparing the brain(and spinal cord) and the liver: 1) the brain neurons have limited regeneration capacity but the liver hepatocytes regenerate naturally.2) the brain have a tight and very selective brain-blood-barrier (blood-spinal cord barrier) that control the exchange between the brain and the blood. But the liver is to welcome to most of the blood intent. The estimated pore size on the endothelial cells in the BBB may be around 20 nm, one per 200 microns2(*1*) ; the pore size of the liver endothelial cell can be 50–300 nm in diameter (*2*).3) The primary livers cells are popular and important for toxicity and metabolism test in the industry, but the primary brain cells are rare. 4) A lot more to learn! We focus on the primary liver cells and related products, iPSC-derived liver products and downstream applications. Happy to talk more about science and tech!Published papers:https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=TnYfog4AAAAJ&hl=zh-CN*1*(https://journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.1152/ajpregu.1987.253.3.R459?rfr_dat=cr_pub++0pubmed&url_ver=Z39.88-2003&rfr_id=ori%3Arid%3Acrossref.org)*2*(https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8473804/).

Senior ScientistMilecell Bio Jul 2023 - PresentAt MieCell, we provide primary cell products & CRO services to pharmaceutical companies and research laboratories. I focus on primary cells, in vitro 3D models, iPSC models, and cell-related products (cell culture and freezing medium). WE now offer primary animal liver cells, immune cells, and freezing medium (20241113). -
Postdoctoral ResearcherUcsf Medical Center Oct 2017 - Jun 2023San Francisco, Ca, Us1)Lead a team to study the local circuit elements in the developing human brain:assessing the gene expressionprotein expression, Rabies viral tracing, electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and pharmacology in the brain tissues, we find that the complex circuit emerges early, which is regulated by the serotonin signaling.2) Brain iPSC-derived organoids and tissue cultures to model human cortical development, which are useful modeIs to test pharmacology and SARS-COV-2 virus infections. Applying functional assays to brain organoids, including extracellular and whole cell patch electrophysiology and calcium imaging.3) Multimodal single-cell RNA and single-cell ATAC sequencing to understand the new markers and cell types of the central nervous system, including immune cells, fibroblast, and vascular cells. -
