As President and Chief Educational Officer, Lia has led the expansion of Goldwings from an aircraft parts supplier into a widely recognized multi-vertical company that touches industries throughout the world. Her title of Chief Educational Officer reinforces the company’s corporate culture, emphasizing education as a core asset. Lia’s three decades of experience in the aviation industry started with the founding of Goldwings Supply Service, Inc. by her father Frank in 1987. After graduating from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Lia earned her aircraft mechanic license and private pilot license. She continued to serve on the company’s board and in 2001 started as Director of Operations and Strategic Development. Today the company prides itself on the successful implementation of network and servant leadership, ensuring all employees understand the value of their voice and kuleana (responsibility) to the welfare and advancement of one another. Lia serves on the Advisory Boards of the Honolulu Community College Department of Aeronautics, and University of Hawaii Shidler Family Business Center, where she also serves as Membership Chair. She is a member of the Hawaii Defense Alliance (HDA) Steering Committee, Hawaii Military Affairs Council, General Aviation Council of Hawaii, Engineers & Architects of Hawaii, Women in Transportation and the HUBZone Council. She serves on the Board of Directors and as the Campaign Co-Chair for the Friends of Hawaii Judiciary History Center and has been a community partner for the Olomana Youth Center since 2018 working with trauma-sensitive youth in career building. It was through this partnership where she created a "10 miles for Smiles" program to engage businesses with schools in their communities. Passionate about empowering youth through sports, she made history in 2012 by founding the first beach volleyball club in Hawaii, which has since grown into a nationally ranked program.
