Negotiate distribution contracts with grocery distributors for international port and warehouse deliveries. Coordinate annual grocery bid, award vendors, and maintain system pricing for varied ports and warehouses. Work with corporate executive chef to identify needs and source new products for on-board consumption, and research and resolve quality complaints. Observe warehousing and delivery procedures for quality control, and verify pricing and invoicing procedures. Conduct food cuttings to compare vendors and products. Source and research new suppliers and products to identify to improve food cost. Supervised an excellent team of 5 buyers providing food, beverage and other commodities to14 cruise liners.

Supervise, review and train buyers and assistant buyers in the Dry Grocery department, which represents 25% of the company’s annual volume of $4.5 billion. Replenish inventory for 30 distribution centers nationwide, maintain 99.8% service fill rate, while decreasing inventory levels. Manage on time receiving from the manufacturers. Regulate special freight expenses. Micro-manage promotional and export items for customers including Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Friday’s and Brinker. Task force member to reduce overstock. Test buying systems for Y2K compliance.

Source and market new items for the dry grocery and frozen food departments. Negotiate monetary programs with vendors. Replenish inventory, resolve warehousing issues, research sales product questions, and maintain item pricing and mark ups. Supervise support buyer and clerical assistant.

Train new buyers and support merchandising staff on the E-3 buying system. Track buyers’ performances, identify areas requiring improvement and provide more specific training. Conduct weekly meetings to discuss systems use. Test the H&S host system on the AS 400, identify problems and enhancements needed for purchasing, and train all merchandisers before implementation. Review inventory and place orders with manufacturers. Maintain price changes in the system. Expedite orders. Neighbors Real Estate columnist - manually record all real estate transactions for Dade County from public records. Enter information into the system and separate listings into cities and neighborhoods.
