After the restructuring of SNC-Lavalin's Business Model, the WS ATKINS Sharjah Engineering office became the epicentre for engineering in the Gulf. The movement from large LSTK engineering to smaller projects allowed for a much greater breadth of roles to engage with. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer this was truly invaluable. The roles included Engineering, Digital Innovation, Proposals, Project Engineering and Site Acceptance Testing.I worked extensively on Handling Engineering design on two large-scale offshore (mixed green- and brown- field) projects. In addition to this provided support to senior engineers for the delivery of various static, rotating and packaged equipment deliverable's.Further, I assisted countless teams in development of automated and intelligent systems. These often required VBA or Python coding and highlighted the importance of smart data management for both technical and commercial delivery. The value of this broader scope, as well as the ability to see a project from tendering to close-out stage was undeniable.

Dubai, Uae

I joined Kentz Dubai shortly after the conclusion of my Engineering studies in 2019. The Graduate program was structured to provide exposure throughout multiple functions of the business including Proposals, Engineering, Project Management and Commercial. In the Dubai office as an Graduate Mechanical Engineer, our primary focus was that of the FEED delivery of a Kazakhstani Oil Refinery and Distribution Centre (USD $420 Million). This role was focused on the design and engineering across static, rotating and packaged equipment. However further cross-discipline design and certification tasks were required. This time with Kentz was drawn short as the business in the MEA region restructured.

Darwin, Australia

During my second Engineering Vacation experience stint, I was involved in the Ichthys Onshore LNG Project. Whilst there, I was situated in the Mechanical and Electrical Teams on Gas Processing Trains 1 & 2. The project, at this time, included both Construction and Commissioning work. My primary roles as an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer were as follows.• Work Package Formation and Delivery Assurance.• Operational Health and Safety Improvement and Reporting.• Engineering and Commissioning Reporting.• Site Acceptance Testing.• Project Management.Over the 3 month period, this was an exceptional experience providing not only exposure to projects on a scale I'd not yet witnessed yet (estimated US$37 Billion), but also allowed the development of core skills (communication, inter-personnel skills) whilst involved with a range of technical and non-technical personnel.

I joined Queensland Urbane Utilities as an undergraduate Mechanical Engineer for experience during University. During this time, a plethora of experience was gained in the engineering and waste water services throughout the South East Region. The role involved working under a range of engineers including senior mechanical, electrical and civil, in addition to field based technicians. Whilst short, rotations through the Asset Management and Mechanical & Electrical teams proved invaluable, providing experience both in day to day engineering roles and field exposure. Responsibilities included;• Work Package Formation and Delivery Assurance (Work Orders and Shutdown Facilities).• Asset Management including Legal Compliance, Facilitating Required Maintenance & Renewal, and Development of Asset & Spares Storage Data Management System. • Diagnosis and Recommendation of Rectification Action.
