The SERP Engineer role is predominantly assessing the Serviceability of specific components/assemblies on the future vehicles at JLR.All assessments are completed in the virtual design phases. Where any issues are found, change is driven to improve the design from a Service perspective.

Design Engineer on the new Aquila Synergy, a low cost Race Car using an end-of-life donor car (Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107). Areas I was responsible for include the Monocoque, Suspension (geometry and parts), Driver Packaging, Pedal Box and Steering System designs. All production drawings for the parts I have designed have also been created by myself, and the majority of the administrative organisational filing and documentation has been created by myself.

For the Motorsport Technology BSc at Birmingham City University I run the Sustainable Racing Project module for Year 1, Advanced Motorsport Project (Formula Student) for Year 2 and finally am a Elective (Final Year) Project Advisor for Year 3. As part of this role I am the General Manager of the University's race team, known as BCU Racing. I also am organising the University's participation at Autosport International in January of 2015.

Overseeing racing projects in which Birmingham City University compete in order to ensure the students have the tools/ability to deliver. BCU Racing currently only run a Formula Student Class 1 team but are soon to expand to Class 2 and also run a team in a national level BRSCC championship.

When at the circuit, responsibilities include ensuring tyres are set to the required pressure, cars are refuelled in a timely fashion, and generally Maintaining the upkeep of the truck and garage. At the workshop maintaining the race truck, and make sure all equipment is loaded for the next event, and is all clean and in an orderly fashion.

Formula Student Team Manger, involving the managing and tutoring student team members in both Formula Student related projects and degree assignment related endeavours. Project tutoring consisted largely of concept to production, taking students from their initial design ideas, to a 3D CAD model, utilising CAM and finally into component production. Also involved were setting achievable targets, producing a workable timeframe, purchasing of components within a limited budget, benchmarking of previous efforts from both BCU and other universities, submissions to Formula Student online and social media updating.

Main duties consisted of the post processing of logged data from BMW 320 E90 Touring Car, in order to ensure the vehicle had been performing in the correct parameters, therefore preventing future failures from existing issues. Also involved in using data from driver inputs to compare to their team mates, in order to increase the drivers performance, thereby reducing lap time.
