Following my progress at Sine, over the last few years, and my contribution in that time I have been promoted to the role of senior electrical engineer. This offers me greater responsibility and an opportunity to further develop as an engineer, through continuing to deliver electrical services solutions in a diverse range of sectors.

I joined Sine Consulting as an Electrical Design Engineer, where I was responsible for delivering the electrical design on a variety of projects, across a diverse range of sectors.

I graduating from Northumbria University, with a 2nd class (upper division) honors degree (2:1), in building services engineering. Following this I worked for Desco (design & consultancy) ltd. as an electrical design engineer within the M&E team. As part of the wider M&E team I was involved with the design of systems across a divers range of clients in a variety of sectors, including but not limited to; healthcare, retail, leisure, sport, education, transport and residential.Working on various projects such as; refurbishment works at both the Metro Centre and Eldon Square shopping malls. As well as the Priority Schools Building Program (PSBP) comprising several schools in the North East region. To name but a few of the project which I was involved with. Throughout my time I gained vital experience working on a variety of electrical systems for example; lighting and small power, fire alarm, security and lightning protection amongst others. With the help of both a great support team and my experience 'on the tools'​ I developed into a more rounded electrical engineer. This allowed me to assume the role of lead electrical engineer, in the M&E team, for some of the ‘smaller’ projects at Desco.

In the summer, between my 2nd and 3rd years of full time study at Northumbria University, I applied for a summer placement at a design consultancy. Bailey Gomm ltd., offered me this opportunity based at the Merck Sharp & Dohme, pharmaceutical plant, in Cramligton.Working in a small M&E team as a placement building services engineer offered me first hand experience of being in industry. This allowed me to put my theoretical knowledge into practice on real life situations. My time at Bailey Gomm ltd. mostly centered around 'shadowing' senior engineers to gain an understanding of what it meant to be a building services engineer. It also offered an insight into the daily workings of such a job role and the tasks I would eventually be expected to complete, in my future career.

After sometime at Adlek ltd. I decided it was time for a new challenge, especially since I was still considered to be the "young'un" despite having 5 years experience in the industry. I began working as an electrician at Scott & Coltherd Ltd. This position came with greater responsibility as I was now in charge of small installation team (3 to 4 electricians), which meant I had to manage workload to meet deadlines.Scott & Coltherd gave me the opportunity to work in some sectors I had no prior experience such as health care, namely refurbishment works at both the R.V.I and Freemans' hospitals in Newcastle. Whilst working at Scott & Colthered I complete an HNC in building services, on a part time basis, this eventually led to me deciding to go to university, on a full-time basis, to pursue a career in design consultancy. I subsequently enrolled on a bachelors degree in Building Services Engineer, at Northumbria University.

Throughout my time at Adlek ltd. I completed an advanced modern apprenticeship leading to an NVQ level 3.This involved working on contracts such as:- • Tor coatings ltd.- Small lighting and power projects within paint mixing areas• Rohm and Haas chemicals ltd - Refurbishment of chemical plant and associated equipment• Saft ltd – Installation of new production lines within the battery manufacturing plantThis enabled me to gain an in depth knowledge of: -• Installation and maintenance of various wiring systems e.g. small lighting and power as well as more specialized systems such as; fire alarm, data and Building Management Systems (BMS). This included the utilization of cable management systems e.g. Trunking, Conduit, ladder rack and cable tray • Inspection and Testing of all types of electrical system, including PAT testing• Coordinating with other personnel and trades whilst on site• Liaising with end clients so that installations meet their specific requirements • Complete a CSCS qualification
