Fixed-term role for the 2021 local elections in Oxfordshire, with work predominantly focused in target divisions and wards. The role required working with a variety of different local party branches to run the most expansive and effective campaigns possible with the resources we had. This involved: designing and organising the distribution of election literature, organising and running campaign events, recruiting and training new volunteers, helping identify and develop local campaign leaders, creating content and managing paid and organic social media campaigns, setting and managing budgets to ensure compliance with election expense regulations, maintaining party voter identification databases. Additionally, I was responsible for helping local activists adjust to campaigning during COVID-19. This involved helping activists become familiar with systems and software that would allow us to campaign remotely and preparing activists to be able to campaign in-person safely and within the COVID-19 guidelines, so that we could start this as soon as it was permitted. We were successful in gaining 2 seats on Oxfordshire County Council overall, holding all our existing seats against a mixed national picture.

While completing my MSc I volunteered to help with an ongoing research project looking at transnational identity and practice in particular minority communities in the UK. The project had reached the dissemination of findings stage and so I mainly assisted by writing blog posts which presented research findings from interviews alongside contemporary news items and discussions to impress upon the reader the relevance of the research. I also helped to organise and moderate a roundtable discussion with the chairs of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Race & Faith and International Relations which was held in December 2020.

Responsible for completing telephone surveys with operators in selected retail and service sectors including DIY, Fashion, Luxury Auto, Food and General Retail, as well as custom client projects. Worked largely independent on task, wrote up surveys, initially checked compliance with FCA guidelines and generated call lists for custom projects. I also took the initiative to highlight methodological concerns or functional issues in call operations

Full time paid role providing confidential advice to drop-in service clients and home visit referrals on a wide range of issues with an overall focus on income maximization. Also contributed to project work in collaboration with Stockton Borough Council Multidisciplinary Service. Project work required networking with council and community support services to expand the range of organisations the service can refer or signpost to, triaging referrals and providing tailored information to service partners in order to improve the quality of those referrals. Also expected to highlight recurring issues and gather evidence on them to further the research and campaign aims of the organisation.
