I have been involved with the mining and construction industry since 1997 when i started my apprenticeship as a Plant Mechanic with BHP in Newman. Following that, I have been doing fly in fly out work with a variety of companies: HWE (Jundee), BGC (Plutonic), Cape Crushing (Marvel Loch), Boral (Cooljarloo), Placer Dome (Granny Smith), HWE (Yandi and Orebody 23/25), M.A.C.A. (Crescent Gold), NRW (Western Turner, Tom Price and Cloudbreak), Ertech (Perth based with frequent site work), Roy Hill, Rio Tinto (Hope Downs 4) and Western Plant Hire (Nullagine Gold).My experience with the large blue chip miners has given me first hand experience with the top level safety standards they demand while the smaller contractors have taught me the ability to get the job done within those rules and regulations.My ability to look at the big picture within the maintenance department and also project the affects to the entire project enable me to make the best decision for the site and company as a whole, not just for a small section.My organisational skills also helps me to keep projects on time and fully accounted for. This also works in with communicating with other departments to ensure the best outcome for all parties.
