Working for PY Media/ 5 NPY Radio around the APY lands

Working with Anangu in the APY lands to run the Mimili Youth Program. Facilitating a diverse range of youth/community activities, mentoring young people, promoting events, coordinating with other service providers, working with parents, reporting activities, applying for resources and donations, managing program budget, working with staff and helping them with professional development.

For over 5 years I was the Music Teacher at the Youth Education Centre, a Department of Education and Child Development school, situated within the Adelaide Youth Training Centre (AYTC), a secure care facility in Adelaide’s Northern suburbs. Throughout these 5 years at AYTC I successfully developed the ability to support, empower and skill young people between the ages of 10-22 years, using both community and cultural development approaches. Through the coordination, delivery and evaluation of programs, I was able to provide young people with the opportunity to work independently, under limited direction to agreed timeframes. Utilising a strict model of continuous personal and professional improvement enabled me to constantly hone my skills in supporting and empowering young people to achieve their goals, and begin to interact positively with their communities. Work responsibilities: Teaching instrumental and electronic music in both individual and group settings, coordinating end of term performances, recording and video clip production, collating inventory, teaching work related skills such as live sound and studio recording, working in both a self-directed environment and as part of a team, running music programs and organising activities for young people.

Working within the community for both physically and intellectually disabled clients, various roles including day-to-day care, meal preparation and ensuring medication adherence, coordination of recreational activities, assistance with financial management, personal care and driving to various appointments and day activities.
