About Liam Croft
Practice Director and architect at BVN Architecture in London; recently returned after spending six years working for BVN in Sydney, Australia.I have been working in the architectural industry, leading projects, for around ten years. Firstly on single family residences in Harrogate, UK, followed by a year in Brighton working with Morton Scarr on commercial and student accommodation schemes.My first foray into larger projects was with Marks Barfield Architects in London where I was lucky enough to work on two fantastic schemes in Cambridge - Cambridge Mosque, the first ‘eco’ mosque, a beautiful and expressive mass timber construction, and the University of Cambridge Primary School, the first ‘University’ run primary school in the UK.I am currently a Practice Director at BVN in London, part of a very strong core team who work across our studios to deliver projects in the UK and EU.Primarily my experience is in bringing projects to fruition through the tender and delivery phases on site. However, through my career I have been lucky enough to work through many projects from strategic briefing and concept design schemes, planning applications, conservation area and listed building consents, through to tender and construction documentation.My interests include inherently ecological design and timber framed construction, and have extensive experience in construction detailing and dealing with projects on-site.Following getting married, I spent half a year on a trip through South and Central America and then spent six years furthering my career in Australia. Now back in London I am very excited for the future for myself, BVN, and the opportunities now arriving for the use of mass timber in the UK.
