My research at Manchester in the group of Dr Michael J. Ingleson focused on Frustrated Lewis Pair (FLP) chemistry. The initial project was on forming new C-Si bonds direct from C-H bonds, this can be achieved catalytically using main group electrophilies. This approached was utilised in the synthesis of compounds with a silole motif that are of interest in material chemistry.
