Right from the start my biggest passion was helping students develop, from watching students go from school competitions to winning national competitions and titles, to helping those students in lessons master the skills and concepts of different physical activitiesI quickly developed an interest in the tracking of student outcomes. I became geekily obsessed with the attainment and achievement of the different groups and developed a flair for the effective presentation of this information to key stakeholders. I was also just as obsessed with trying to get across the message that data did not mean reducing a student to just a number or a gradeThroughout my time in Education, I had sat through many professional development and student workshops. The best of those always left me feeling motivated and energised, ready to take what speakers had shared with staff and/or students into the learning area. But these were few and far between. I was often left feeling that the time spent listening to the speaker, could have been better spent getting on with that never ending to do list or that valuable learning time for students had been wasted sat through a workshop devoid of any redeeming qualities or strategiesI then had the pleasure of listening to one speaker in particular. And one particular sentiment that he shared with his audience struck a note with me. That we were all Magnificent. This positive outlook was something that I had held throughout my teaching career. That we all could be better. Do better. That both the students I had taught and the teachers I had worked with had the ability to be magnificent So I have decided that I can do better have started out on my own educational support journey: #Twelve_10 #i_inspireBut I know that I don't hold all the answers. Nor am I the expert on presentation. So I am seeking advice, immersing myself in whatever information I can to ensure that whatever I deliver is Magnificent.Welcome to #Twelve_10
