Harper Adams Students’ Union is one of the UK’s best, small and specialist universities. Historically the Union has been heavily commercially focused but I have steered the Union towards advocacy, representation and student voice. Accountable to the Board I have led a rapid transformation of an organisation ensuring it was fit for purpose and able to re-open its services and activities following the pandemic lockdowns, recovering from a budget deficit to even budget inside 18 months.- Budgetary responsibility for an organisation with £1.3million turnover and management of both full/part time and student staff teams.- Delivery of a fully researched, student led strategic plan for 2022-25- Revision of the governance and representative structures to include under-represented groups closer to the heart of what we do, as well as leading on the work undertaken to rewrite the constitution.- Built the program of student voice work from the ground up- Undertook a zero budget exercise for 2022-2023 and returned clear audits- Negotiated a 40% uplift to our central grant- Led HASU from 108th to 31st in the SU WhatUni SU category.- Oversaw the work completed to ensure our venues were accredited with Best Bar None Gold and a 5 star review under the LSAVI licensing initiative.

As the senior manager responsible for the extra curricular and pastoral work for the students union I delivered against strategic priorities for Loughborough's Athletics Union, student groups, volunteering, fundraising, liberation groups, student media, peer support, academic advice and representation, enterprise as well as Launching the Leadership Training Academy.I was central to the unions work in developing, centralising and streamlining processes and work towards an overall objective to deliver life shaping opportunities for students.I line managed 8 staff and oversaw a department of 15 permanent staff working alongside the elected student executive and key senior volunteers with responsibility for a 6 figure budget.Key Successes - Successful restructuring of the satellite London campus operations in which service provision was merged and focussed on core activity.- Launched the Leadership Academy as part of the training section of the organisation strategic plan. One highlight being the attendance of over 400 students to the inaugural event.- Successful induction and exit planning activity with incoming and outgoing student leaders.- Rebuilt process for employing coaches for our student groups to make the experience less cumbersome for coaches and student leaders.- Managed department remotely through the COVID-19 pandemic.- Successfully undertook appraisal and performance management.- Passed ILM Leadership & Management L3.

Loughborough Students' Union is the students' union serving members from Loughborough University and Loughborough College. LSU has repeatedly been ranked top of the What Uni "Best Students' Union" tables and has supported the university to achieving "#1 Student Experience" in the 2016 Times Higher Education awards.Role Outline- Line management of a staff team of 6 across Volunteering (Action), Fundraising (Rag), Societies, -- Welfare and Diversity, College and the activities help desk. - Working with and supporting officers to deliver on both union wide and section specific strategic plans- Responsible for training and development of our 10,000 student volunteers and 1,700 student leaders- Line management of 30 paid student staff in the Student Ambassador team.- Production and management of e-learning resources and online moodle. Ongoing training and management of two student staff who produce resources using "Lectora" Key achievements- One of a team of project leader on the multi-award winning "Spit Happens" event which was a collaborative project between Loughborough University, Loughborough Students' Union, Loughborough Marrow, Anthony Nolan charity and the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign. 450 students were trained to register over 2000 people to the stem cell register inside 12 hours.- Digitisation of several student facing systems and processes.- Rapid improvement in health and safety and risk assessment compliance across student groups.

Following successful service delivery and management I was able to step into a more senior management position within the college. As Learner Voice and Enrichment Manager I took on line management for the college's Sports Co-Ordinator and their team of three seeing my overall team growing to six full time and one part time staff members.Key successes- Registered in excess of 400 students to vote in the 2015 General Election as part of the "Democracy Hub" exhibit which I project managed.- Oversaw the move and renovation of the student social space- Successful funding bid to the Home Office- I was successful in being awarded additional staff funding in order to achieve the requirements of the study programs additional "Enrichment" sessions.- Nominated for Employee of the Month, Equality and Diversity Staff Member of the Year Award- Developed and delivered the Student Led Teaching Awards, receiving over 450 nominations in both 2015 and 2016.- The 2016 OFSTED report highlighted "comprehensive enrichment activities and tutorials"In March 2016 my role was expanded further. I became the line manager of 7 Learning Mentors who were responsible for the production and delivery of the college wide weekly tutorials of over 1800 16-18 year olds. My team delivered pastoral sessions on Safeguarding, Prevent, Sexual Health, Mental Health, LGBT+, UCAS, CV and interview skills and Equality and Diversity.In August I also began to manage 4 Student Engagement Officers within the college's University Centre NUC. These staff were responsible for supporting students through induction, centre administration, student finance queries and student support enquiries.As Learner Voice and Enrichment manager I was responsible for 16 direct line reports, including other managers and the smooth running of 4 collage teams, Enrichment, Sport, Learning Mentors and HE Engagement Officers. I regularly liaised with the college SMT and both developed and delivered on strategy.

In addition to the role of SSLO I took on team leadership for the college wide Enrichment provision. I took line management of two full time and one part time member of staff.- Began managing multiple budgets.- Successfully managed the Enrichment team seeing over 1000 student engagements across two campuses- Delivered a series of external visits and trips.

Newham College of FE is based in one of London's most diverse areas. It has around 11,000 full or part time students and offers a wide range of study programs ranging from vocational studies in hairdressing, engineering or hospitality through to a thorough ESOL program.I joined the college in 2012 as the Student Staff Liaison Officer. I had the responsibility of coordinating student voice, the course representatives and Students' Union at the college. I worked as part of the Learning Services team and with a volunteer team of over 300 students. As part of my role I was trained in safeguarding, health and safety, sexual health and have delivered workshops and college inductions. I have also been responsible for liaising with and building a relationship with the National Union of Students.• Led on the student consultation and rewriting of the Students' Union Constitution.• Project managed successful "Freshers Fairs."• Delivered course representative and students union officer training.• Increased the amount of course representatives trained by 20%• Increased attendance at student council all year round. (2012-13)• Oversaw the overhaul of the democratic Students' Union elections.• Saw year on year increases in NUS Extra Sales (2012-13 - 40%, 2013-14 - 100%+)In September 2014 my role took on further responsibilities including the production and analysis of a series of college wide student surveys. This saw Learner Voice begin to become more prominent around college. I was responsible for delivering analytical summaries to the Senior Management Team and Board of Governors. During this period I also became a budget holder.
