I am a final-year Aeronautical Engineering student at Imperial College London with an excellent academic record. I came 2nd in the cohort during my first year at Imperial and have been on the Dean’s list (top 10% of the cohort) every year, having previously achieved 4 A*s at A level and 12 straight grade 9s at GCSE. I am particularly interested in the Engineering and the Space sector, having previously won both the UK Space Design Competition (UKSDC) in 2020 and 2021 and the International Space Settlement Design Competition in 2020. I have since also won the Airbus Student Space Competition for Space Debris Removal in 2022 and for Lunar Development in 2024, competing against university students across all year groups and eventually presenting my winning proposals at the National Student Space Conference each year.Through these space design competitions, I have gained experience in leading companies of 50 students to tackle a detailed technical Request for Proposal, having twice been elected company President. My leadership ability was recognized when I received the Dick Edward's Excellence in Leadership award at the ISSDC in 2021, being commended for my ability to ‘lead through facilitating constructive discussions in which everyone had the opportunity to put forward ideas, as this enabled the communication and collaboration necessary for success in such a large company.’ Moreover, I have demonstrated strong communication skills by leading my companies’ presentations, including winning the Excellence in Presentation award at the ISSDC in 2021. I now volunteer with the Space Science and Engineering Foundation, which runs the UKSDC, and my role is to design some of the Requests for Proposal for each competition, alongside generating content for the competition website that helps to provide students with an immersive engineering experience during the competition. Through this role, I have developed a strong ability to work with technical requirements and an understanding of space mission concept design which I hope to use in my future career,Furthermore, I have strong CAD skills in software including Onshape and Autodesk Fusion 360, which I have used when designing a space debris removal satellite for a competition with Airbus. I designed a reusable system for removing small pieces of space debris from low earth orbit, which also helped me to build up a knowledge of the technologies available within the small satellite market.I'd like to hear from engineering companies about career opportunities.

Propulsion EngineerImperial College Space Society Oct 2021 - Aug 2022London, England, United KingdomAs a propulsion engineer with the Imperial College Space Society, I worked on Project Kepler, our rocket engine design project. My primary role involved completing structural and thermal simulations of the engine using Fusion 360 and Ansys Mechanical. I also researched materials and manufacturing methods for different engine components, ensuring they were compatible with the chemicals, temperatures and forces the parts would be exposed to. My main contribution was to our unique combustion chamber liner design, which enables us to get the beneficial thermal characteristics of copper in our main combustion chamber without the weight penalty of having this copper liner extend the entire length of our engine nozzle. -
Board MemberUk Space Design Competition Jan 2022 - PresentFollowing my time as a volunteer with the Space Science and Engineering Foundation, I have been appointed to the Board of the UK Space Design Competition. I continue to work on the uksdc.org website and competition proposal writing, but this role comes with increased responsibility for competition organisation and outreach. I am the competition resources manager, as well as one of the two leads for the UKSDC mentoring scheme, which involves helping students prepare for the competition with practice resources and video calls for support. -
VolunteerSpace Science & Engineering Foundation Mar 2021 - PresentAs a volunteer with SSEF, I have been writing Requests for Proposal, which are used to provide a framework to space-themed engineering competitions for students in year 10-13 (S3-S6). These technical and formal documents outline the requirements for the 50-person student companies to try and tackle over the weekend.I have recently began working on the competition resources webpages on the www.uksdc.org website to digitalise and expand upon the detailed fictional universe that houses the competition. This included generating content for over 50 fictional subcontractors and 20 settlements, which then had to be uploaded to the website for students to use during the competition.Finally, my role at the competitions consists of providing technical and managerial support to students through roles as a 'CEO' and 'Technical Adviser' to their companies as they work to tackle their Request for Proposal. This role includes teaching students maths and physics topics, such as the basics of how to generate artificial gravity, as well as imparting the organisational skills they need to work effectively in such large companies. Moreover, I have also acted as competition Judge on multiple occasions, posing technical questions to candidates following their proposal presentations. -
SpinternSatellite Applications Catapult Jul 2023 - Sep 2023Harwell Campus, England, United KingdomFor my second SPINtern placement with Satellite Applications Catapult, I worked in the Evaluation and Impact team as a software engineer and data analyst, creating a tool in Python to perform quantitative analysis of the impact of Catapult Support on the growth of their partners within the space sector. Given the large quantities of data involved in the placement, it was essential to optimise the design of my code to minimise the runtime for analysis, whilst also ensuring that the code was simple to use for colleagues across the company, some of whom had very little experience using Python. After creating this tool, I used it to perform detailed analysis across many different aspects of the Catapult's work, generating insights and recommendations for future company strategy. Through the statistical methods integrated into my analysis tool, I was able to confirm that Catapult Support caused increase growth for its partners to an extent that was statistically significant, which formed a key part of the company's annual report. This tool was greatly praised by the COO, with the insights allowing them to powerfully back up their claims during presentations about the efficacy of the Catapult's work when applying for further funding, or attracting new partners. -
SpinternSatellite Applications Catapult Jun 2022 - Aug 2022As a SPINtern with the Satellite Applications Catapult, I worked on a project to help map the Australian Space ecosystem. Within this role, I generated a database of all of the companies working in the Australian space sector, collating important econometric data about them, as well as a profile of their products and services, in order to facilitate greater collaboration between the UK and Australia as part of the UK-Australia Space Bridge agreement. The database that I created now forms the backbone of the UK Space Capabilites Catalogue (UKSCC) International Dashboard, more information about which can be found in the link provided.
