ManagementI supervised and monitored the required compliance of Laboratory Containment Facilities and staff against legislative safety and quality standards (ISO9001, ISO17025, GLP and ACDP3), participating in safety inspections and attending facilities management functions.I managed the workflow of key Pathology Techniques – H&E Staining, Tinctorial Stains, Immunohistochemistry – providing troubleshooting, forward work planning and assistance.I managed the Statutory Mammalian Diagnostic Histology administrative processes, including hard-copy paper, inter-departmental (LIMs) and local tracking systems, ensuring works were charged and reported correctly.I managed Immunohistochemical staining R&D, Commercial and Diagnostic Projects to deadline and to budget.I had ownership over the ordering of Laboratory stock across multiple workgroups, assessing reagents, contingency planning, applying for and justifying potential suppliers.I deputised the Test Manager of the National Feed Audit for the microscopic analysis of prohibited animal proteins within animal feed ingredients. This is a requirement of U.K Government Animal Feed Control Legislation, Directives and Policies. Broadly, this involved generating and approving invoices and reports before they were received by stakeholders – Private Customers, Boarder Inspection Post Officials, APHA Staff. Technical I contributed to the production of Peer-Reviewed Papers, Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, Investigative Reports and Scientific Posters.I have experience in leading the validation of untested scientific automated instruments in line with my workgroup’s requirements – Epredia Immunohistochemical Autostainer, Epredia Gemini Slide Stainer, Epredia Gemini Coverslipper, Leica Bond ISH and IHC Autostainer.

I was posted at DHSC emergency SARS-CoV-2 testing centre on secondment from the APHA. The projected marked the start of mass testing for the nation and was a centralised hub for London and the south of England. Upon returning to APHA I participated in two internal SARS-CoV-2 projects – The University of Southampton’s LAMP Project and NHS Emergency Staff Testing.
