I'm a doctoral student in Geography at the University of Toronto. My main area of research is environmental politics, as examined from a labour/community organizing and social justice perspective. My dissertation project looks at "extractive populism" in western Canada, with a focus on the historical lived experiences of resource workers.Prior to and during my time as a postsecondary student, I worked as a tree planter in the interior of British Columbia. Working adjacent to the resource-extractive industry and living temporarily in a number of BC's resource towns has imparted upon me a longstanding interest in the lived realities of resource workers alongside the contemporary demands of climate crisis. Having also volunteered my time in the student-worker, climate justice, and tenant movements, my research interests tend to be shaped by questions related to organizing and movement strategy.
