I worked for Menzies Aviation in partnership with EasyJet as a Team Leader of the Ground Operations Crew. I was in charge of making sure that all cargo and baggage is loaded correctly into the relevant aircraft hold, ensuring that the aircraft was correctly balanced for flight. I also ensured the aircraft is fuelled correctly and ready to fly, before finalising the relevant legal paperwork with the pilots. My job role demanded high levels of organisation with strict adherence to safety and security procedures, demonstrating efficiency and leadership as required, whilst overseeing the prompt turnaround of aircraft. I carried out rigorous inspections of the aircraft before departure to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew. I was trained to operate multiple types of vehicles including pushback tugs, baggage vehicles and aircraft steps, and inspect them regularly to ensure that they are in safe working order.I proactively gained new skills in my job to further my development in the role, such as communicating with the pilots and air traffic control as they commenced the start-up procedure and helping them to resolve any problems that arise therein. Due to the fast-paced nature of the job role, it was imperative that I worked in a structured, highly organised and safe manner with my team, ensuring we followed all procedures correctly to meet the tight deadlines required for safe and efficient aircraft turnaround times.
