Assistant Depot Operations Manager
CurrentEnsuring successful daily running of the depot, reporting to the Depot Operations Manager.Direct responsibilities:-- Weekly reconciliation of site sales of approx £110k, profits of 47-50%, payments, customer counts and preparing a weekly report for presentation to the MD.- Maintenance of rounds, to ensure that they remain profitable and efficient- Monitor depot annual budget levels for wages, fuel, vehicle maintenance and depot utility costs- Overseeing depot-specific procedures and amending them where necessary to ensure efficiency- Customer debt management, for both doorstep and businesses- Reports on driver behaviour, using a fleet tracking service and reporting to the Fleet Manager- Administration of wages- Executing the company Disciplinary Process- Overseeing stock to ensure that there are sufficient levels to fulfil orders- Managing staff holidays and staffing levels, ensuring sufficient cover for the rounds- Created a training plan which I developed, a four-week schedule which ensures that any new roundspeople are competent and confident to take the round out unsupervised- I am also solely responsible for recruitment. I have actively tried to recruit younger drivers to reduce the average age of the depot staff, to ensure longevity and promote a lower staff turnover.- On call 24/7, resolving issues with staff, most often during unsociable hours. If staffing levels are critical, I am also required to deliver rounds myself.I have streamlined a number of processes, most notably the weekly sales reports which I reduced from taking 2-3 hours to just 30 mins thanks to my intermediate knowledge of Google Sheets. I have also taken rounds off the road that were no longer profitable, sharing the deliveries out to other nearby rounds that could accommodate themI have been instrumental in bringing the overall depot debt level down to an excellent standard, with our current debtor days down to 30 from almost 40 before I took over the role.
