In January 2018 I moved into my current role as Chief Operating Officer of COLAS Ireland. In this role I hope to improve our competitive position in the Irish market. I am dedicated to developing an expert team that can meet the needs and wants of our customers in an ever changing marketplace, empowered by an efficient operational platform.

In 2012 I was made Managing Director of Cold Chon Galway Ltd., Road Binders, and Chemoran. I was also made Director of Colas Teoranta. Cold Chon Galway Ltd. was established in 1927. We manufacture a range of CE Marked Cationic Bitumen Emulsions and macadam binders, which are used in road surfacing throughout Ireland.Chemoran manufactures emulsifiers, adhesive agents and microsurfacing agents in three reactors in our facility in Oranmore, Co. Galway. The products are manufactured to the highest standards, certified to ISO 9001 (2008). The facility is also accredited to ISO 14001 (2004), the international environmental standard.My activities in this role included the strategic management of our companies future, looking into new areas of growth, and investigating new opportunities to expand our market-share and product offering on a global scale.

In 2003 I was promoted to General Manager of Cold Chon Galway Ltd., where my responsibilities included facilitating the growth of our emulsion activities throughout the North and West of Ireland. During my time as General Manager of Cold Chon Galway Ltd., I was also appointed as General Manager of Road Binders in the South of Ireland. In 2011 I was appointed as General Manager of the Chemical Division of Cold Chon, Chemoran. I was responsible for the growth of our global product offering of emulsifiers and other chemicals for the road-construction industry.

In 1989 I began a new role with the company, with primary functions in the areas of sales, business strategy, production, and general operations for the North-West division. I was also involved in the environmental performance, and health and safety activities of the organisation.In 1998 I was promoted to Operations Manager. In that role I developed a growth strategy for the North-West division, to meet the needs and wants of our clientele in the region. We focused on niche markets, in areas of cold mixes, recycling of materials, and the introduction of polymer-based emulsions for surface dressing works.

My primary functions as a Quality Control and Research Technician included testing bitumen and chemical products to ensure they were in line with specifications, and overseeing the introductions of the ISO Quality System into the workplace.

I began working in Cold Chon part-time during my time as a student, and full-time after my studies were completed. I carried out a number of functions including manufacturing cationic bitumen emulsion, delivering and supplying bitumen emulsion, and general yard duties.
