I completed a 10 week paid internship at AbacusBio, a leading Agribusiness Consultancy firm, enabled by a Callaghan Innovation R&D Experience Grant. My project was 'Asparagopsis: a commercial candidate for methane reduction', where I provided a chemical viewpoint to the multidisciplinary team while being exposed to industry science and the wider company.My internship involved extensive literature reviews, data analysis and applying my chemical expertise to understand the mode of action of inhibitors, as well as applying this expertise across medicinal cannabis and plant breeding projects. This produced an extended report and client presentation, developing an accessible body of knowledge on Asparagopsis for a major research pipeline.Subsequently, I held a research contract for 2021 where I contributed to four commercialisation science projects.

Key responsibilities for providing quality and responsive pastoral care, enthusiasm and support to a floor of 19, with broader responsibilities to all 224 resident members of the College.The role included confidentiality and professional conduct, rostered duties, participation in all college functions, event organisation / management, crisis management and engagement with community.Portfolio responsibilities covered Formal Dinners, organising and coordinating pre- and post- dinner gatherings (networking, briefing, panel discussion) [2020]; Community Projects Coordinator and Expert Breakfast Coordinator [2021].

Young New Zealanders who attain Gold have invested a minimum of twelve months to achieve this Award. The Award involves giving service to the community, developing new skills, a commitment to physical well-being, and the training, planning and undertaking of a journey or exploration in the outdoors and attending a week-long residential project. I was selected to represent New Zealand on the following International experiences:Taiwan International Science Fair 2019 - International science fair presenting my research on antibacterial properties of Manuka. Selected to attend as runner up to Prime Minister’s Future Scientist Prize.London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) 2018 - Two week student science enrichment programme held at Imperial College London. Gained international network of young scientists, experienced culture of academia and London, appreciation of New Zealand and awareness of global citizenship.Asian Science Camp 2017 - International camp bringing young scientists to debate, engage with scholars, exchange cultures and share perspectives / worldviews. One of 5 New Zealand delegates selected to attend.
