A/Ambulance Manager in the ACTAS's Education unit is an exciting and innovative role. Having the portfolio of Intensive Care Paramedic and the Clinical Support Officer course developer and coordinator, provides me with the opportunity contribute to the ACTAS's strategic direction and modernisation plan. By drawing on industry and academic experience I create, collaborate, and facilitate contemporary educational experiences for high performing colleagues and teams to provide quality healthcare for the community.

With the extended scope of practice in emergency health, I provide high level of care for critical and complex patients. Through clinical leadership, professionalism, education, scene organisation skills, I assist my colleagues to provide the out-of-hospital care to the Australian Capital Territory and the surrounding New South Wales communities.

During this acting period, I refined the vision and position description for the new Clinical Support Officer role in the ACTAS. By collaborating across ACTAS's business units (Operations, Clinical Governance, Education, and the Transformation and Capability Development) and drawing on my leadership, education, and clinical experience, I co-created a capability framework for the role. This framework was then used to guide the curriculum development and operational launch of the CSO role.

In the role of Discipline Lead, I am fortunate to serve a diverse multi-campus team and work with industry stakeholders in creating paramedicine graduates, curricula and research that meet the current and future needs of local, national and international communities. Through collaborating with the Discipline's leadership team, course coordinators, clinical coordinators and partners, School/Faculty managers, cultural liaisons and students, I aim to assist the discipline by synthesizing views and creating a vision for education and research for the profession of Paramedicine. Additionally, I am co-responsible for guiding our new curricula in creating paramedics who can provide compassionate care in dynamic environments. I look forward to seeing these curricula through AHPRA's new accreditation process and meet their standards to ensure our graduates become registered Paramedics in Australia.

In 2015, I was originally seconded of as a Lecturer of Paramedicine at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). This was part of an ongoing professional development opportunity between ACU and the Australian Capital Territory Ambulance Service. In this role I have been able to drawing on my academic, theoretical, educational and clinical experience to provide a rounded and immersive learning experience for undergraduate paramedics. Delivering knowledge in a variety of teaching methods such as lecturers, tutorials, simulation and skill stations has been an effective way in developing future professionals. I have contributed to curriculum and assessment design for several courses. It has been a very rewarding and enjoyable experience, where I was honoured to receive the "Outstanding Lecturer" award by the graduating cohort of 2015 & 2017. My current student satisfaction rate is 4.9/5.0. Since 2016, I have been employed by ACU as a part-time permanent Lecturer of Paramedicine. My working time is shared between this and my clinical role as an Intensive Care Paramedic.

This role is the first in Australia and is part of an on going research project by Australian Catholic University. The aim of the project is to evaluate the need and outcomes of having a university based facilitator assisting undergraduate paramedics while they are on a clinical placement with an ambulance service. The role encompassed a variety of aspects and skills from clinical practice, education and management. Duties included clinical and educational support for the students and their mentors, management of logistical issues that arose while on placement, and student and paramedic welfare. The project has now moved into the analysis phase and results will be published soon.
