My current role is General Manager at Mackenzies, A café, bar and restaurant situated on Wood Street in Old Town Swindon with a capacity of 400. A busy venue with an average revenue of 30K+ a week, with a 90% Wet/10% Dry sales curve. Mackenzies has one ground floor, a private function room upstairs and a large garden area, each with their own bars. My responsibilities consist of running the day to day business as well as being on call whenever needed. My weekly tasks include ordering from several suppliers within a budget, Forecasting/Organising rota's 3 weeks in advance for 20+ staff, Recruitment/Training new team members (Including management), maintaining good stock control and personally handling private events/parties. In my first year with Mackenzies I managed to gain significant improvements in several areas of the business such as; Customer feedback/reviews, financial gains via stock control, General sales for the business increasing by 100K+, working closely with the director of the company, including visiting our Bristol site with the hopes to bring similar improvements to their business.

My role as assistant manager of Boston Brothers, a Swindon town centre Nightclub which takes an average 25k revenue a week, the venue has two rooms with a combined capacity of 700 and operates Thurs to Sun nights. My responsibilities consist of handling many aspects of the business such as ordering and maintaining levels of stock, training and development of staff, building maintenance and calls outs, safety, security, licensing procedures, recruitment, organising rota’s, organising parties/private events and money handling.

I worked my way to supervisor and was offered the role of assistant manager however I decided to join Revolution because I believed the training program was better suited to further developing my management skills/career.

Liquid/Envy was a fantastic opportunity to work in a busy and high paced environment, Luminar would regularly hold special events for students meaning I gained experience working in several other sites across the country as a result. I worked my way up to trainee assistant manager, Unfortunately Liquid/Envy Swindon was one of the venues closed when the company went into administration in 2011.

Edwards nightclub was my first bar job, it was closed after Xmas and I was transferred to O’Neill’s/Reflex. I spent 3 years working in both the retro 80’s nightclub Reflex and the Irish bar and restaurant of O’Neill’s. I really loved working in both environments, and gained a lot of experience working with the bar/kitchen as well as organising monthly live music events. I worked closely with management with the hopes to progress but unfortunately the site was sold in 2009.
