The Class 455 trains will be one of the first EMU fleets in the UK to benefit from a state of the art upgrade featuring regenerative braking.Currently employed by Kiepe to run stage 1 of the complex traction modification. Stage 1 of the build includes complete strip out of under frame of the MOS of both electrical and mechanical components, plasma cutting and grinding of existing brackets and then the mechanical rebuild of the modification. This includes anything from new trimmers for components as well as fitting new boxes. All work carried out is in accordance with technical diagrams and work instructions. As well as overseeing the build for stage 1 other duties include quality checks of allWork carried out, plan daily and weekly work activities and associated resources, ensure all paperwork is carried out and the team have access to up to date work instructions and adhere to them. Supervised junior engineers, and mechanical maintenance/engineering work on the squadron, to ensure that the squadron had serviceable aircraft to meet operational commitments this has involved: • Carried out regular component replacement, fault rectification and routine servicing tasks. Ensuring that all engineers in the team were well briefed and that the job was carried out safely and correctly using the correct hand tools, equipment and technical instructions. • Contributed my knowledge and skills to ensure that any mechanical faults or work is carried out efficiently when carrying out large work packages with a team of engineers. • Mentored junior engineers, passing on knowledge, experience and practical skills. I have also assisted them with completing their task books by regularly carrying out competency checks ensuring their knowledge of the aircraft, documentation and procedures remained current. • Generated and completed paperwork to CAA standards plus computerised work orders using GOLDesp and signing off work carried out. • Gained experience in the role of flight servicing co-ordinator ensuring the correct flight servicing was carried out and personnel was detailed off to meet the demands of the flying programme. responsible for the personnel and resources within the mechanical workshop needed to support embarked squadrons. Supervised and co-ordinated the maintenance of ground equipment (hydraulic rigs, aircraft mechanical handlers etc). The sole person who could update GEMS (ground equipment maintenance system) and sign off the work complete for it to re-forecast the maintenance. Other responsibilities included: • Mechanical workshop tool controller ensuring the strict tool control procedures were adhered too and quality assurance of tool control. • Stores for the mechanical workshop (sending and receipt of stores). I was in charge of forecasting what stores were required for the servicing of each item held. • Managed the COSHH (control of substance hazardous to health) and PPE (personal protective equipment) within the mechanical workshop.  Liaised with and established good relationships with civilian companies.

Carried out unsupervised flight servicing as required and duties of a tradesman which involved fault rectification, component replacement (mechanical and electrical components)and servicing operations. Line operations undertaken included marshalling, re-fuelling, de-fuelling and aircraft movements.
