As a junior / pro-bono legal consultant on the Im Chaem Defence Team, I was primarily involved in proceedings at the pre-trial appellate stage of the case. My role encompassed involvement in the formulation and development of the Defence strategy as well as the preparation of written submissions in relation to substantive appellate matters and various interim motions. Additionally, I conducted research on issues of ECCC law and international criminal law. I also assisted the team's preparation for, and instructed counsel at, oral appeals hearings before the Pre-Trial Chamber.

I completed a six month internship in the Im Chaem Defence team at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. As an intern, my responsibilities included researching and preparing detailed research memoranda on a wide variety of topics concerning ECCC law, international criminal law, and the facts in the case. Further, I contributed to the drafting of a range of written arguments on legal and factual issues.
