I grew up the son of two lawyers, which ultimately led me to attend Carleton University for their BA in Law. Although I was seeing success, I was not finding fulfillment. However, all that was about to be made completely irrelevant by the news my mother's cancer had returned. The next few years I played my role - balancing academic obligations with duties at home. Eventually I found comfort in philanthropic work, and as Chairman of an organization on campus I helped raise over $30,000 for various cancer initiatives. Nevertheless, the situation at home had deteriorated and my mother had lost her fight. Fast forward a year, and I broke my back skiing in British Columbia. Strangely enough, this turned out to be one of the most formative periods in my life. Bedridden and forced to stay off my feet, I began exploring the world of Software Development. Everything I needed was at my fingertips, and lucky for me that's pretty much all I had available. I enrolled in a 24-week intensive Bootcamp program through Carleton University where I learned to become a MERN Stack Developer experienced with AGILE methodologies. As a result, not only am I very comfortable with specific technologies (Git, NodeJS, SQL, NoSQL, Express, React, etc.), I am also extremely confident in my ability to continue learning with or without supervision. Things rarely go exactly according to plan - sometimes we take an unexpected detour to get the perspective we were missing.
