I am an aspiring technician with 4 years of experience within the production and testing industry. I am currently studying a BTEC in electrical engineering alongside working to further build my knowledge and skillsI currently work for Insensys who are a privately owned global leading supplier of fibre optic measurement systems.My daily role is the testing and data analysing of the fibre optic systems (also known as an interrogator). The interrogators rely on working at a specific wavelength and it's my role to ensure that they stay within parameters during various tests. Skills I use for this role:● Data analysis - analysing the test results from the interrogators to identify any potential issues during testing and creating an organised database of all test results.● Calibration of test equipment - Frequently monitor test equipment such as attenuators and calibrate on a weekly schedule.● Proficiency in microsoft (Excel, word, office) - having to compile data and write reports based on findings during testing or servicing.● Testing - Following standardised test procedures and also being able to adapt tests where applicable such as new projects.Other Useful skills:● Spectrum Analyser Experience.● OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) Experience: Used for fault finding/optical fibre testing.● ESD (Electrostatic discharge) Knowledge and Testing.● Experience using handheld Optical equipment: Power meters, Fault finding Light pen.● Tunable laser Experience.
