I have left the workforce for 2 years (starting Jan 2023) to be a stay at home dad and support my wife's career. I will, however, want to keep the tools sharp so I will be open to roles that require only 1 or 2 days a week of work (from home). My code is used to analyze massive genomic data, answer biological questions and build out automation workflows. I've written tooling pertaining to the analysis and reporting of the gut microbiome. I've surveilled Sars-CoV-2 and other pathogens. I've written pipelines and tools to analyse whole human genomes (somatic and germline). It's all the same from my perspective, NGS plus code.Over the years I have shifted from being a biologist that writes some code to a programmer/data scientist with expertise in NGS. I spend the vast majority of my time writing Python (clean and SOLID where applicable) for various reasons. Working in this space makes me familiar with all the common tech innovations; machine learning, containers, work flow languages and cloud computing (GCP, K8s and Argo), to name a few.Liam
