As a member of the Chassis Engineering Team, I provide responsive technical support, ensuring the needs of SDC's clients communicated by the sales team reach production in an effective and timely manner.Key responsibilities are:- Conversion of Client specifications from the sales team into production Serial BOMs.- Engaging with sales to communicate solutions to clients specific needs.- Designing new variations on existing product solutions when required- Ensuring new design solutions fall within existing type approval for UK and EU products- Lineside support as required, to provide engineering solutions to production, securing delivery schedule- Enacting design updates to resolve in-service issues, and provide technical direction for in service warranty repairs.

Provided a dedicated engineering link between design and production departments; creating rework solutions to enable continuous manufacture and relaying design for manufacture observations. Role required extensive use of CATIA V5/V6 with Smarteam PLM software, for part and assembly design. Was regularly involved in Technical Review Board & Configuration Control Board Processes, ensuring structure critical components went through certification department before implementation. When required provided physical lineside support to production operations.Key accomplishments:- Produced a rework solution for an in-service product, ensuring customer was able to meet the deadline for introduction of new flagship product whilst meeting EASA certification requirements.- Was seconded to the Design department for 9 months, leading a small development team in the creation of a leading product for a flagship customer.- Headed consultation with EASA representatives to ensure regulatory compliance of the aforementioned product. This resulted in evolution of the relevant certification requirements.

Performed extensive modelling in Solidworks and CATIA. Products modelled ranged from small scale plastic parts to five-ton manufacturing fixtures.- Produced animations for client presentations via Solidworks and 3D Via.- Designed a range of small and large products of varying material, manufacture and purpose; for individual customers, small businesses and large scale manufacturers- Had extensive input into product design, project brainstorming and reviews both internal and including customers.- Presented my work and findings to both large and small groups of clients and potential customers for the NITC.- Experienced working with major industrial customers such as Bombardier (Short Brothers PLC) and Airbus- Gained hands-on experience utilising the facilities and materials of the NITC workshop to perform prototype fabrication for customers- Attended the 2014 Interplas and TCT trade shows at the Birmingham NEC. Attendance provided live demonstration of modern high volume plastic manufacture the capabilities, drawbacks and future potential of rapid prototyping.
