Working at the University of Florida Meat Processing Center, or as the locals like to call it, the Meat Lab, has unequivocally proven to be a crucial stepping stone towards veterinary school. While on the job, I practice skills relevant to veterinary medicine, including: processing cows and pigs from slaughter to retail, determining health and vital signs of an animal based on learned recognized signs and memorizing anatomy based on essential muscular and skeletal groups. I am also thankful for the social and instructional experience I have gained while on the job, in conjunction with my role as an educator to kids and their parents while participating in the Hog and Ham event of summer 2021 and 2022.

Working at the Metzler Veterinary Hospital has given me unforgettable experiences with dogs and cats. During my employment, I took part in administering medicine, walking dogs and enriching both dogs and cats with play times. Being around so many different types of dogs and cats allowed for an in depth look into animal psychology, allowing me to recognize certain behaviors such as boredom, sadness, stress, excitement and trust.
