I have been working for just over three years now, having two jobs across that time period. My first was a Waiter/Kitchen Porter at Stretton Manor Barn ; a new, up and coming wedding venue that i knew would be the perfect place to branch out both my social, and workplace skills after just finishing my GCSE’s. I was eager to get out there once i was able to be employed and this job was a huge first step in my career. I was at Stretton Manor Barn for just under a year, from July 2021 up until May 2022, my reason for leaving being the hours that came with working around weddings didn’t match up to my Sixth Form timetable how i would’ve liked it to. Throughout my employment here, i learned a multitude of new skills, such as quality assurance and being able to work under such a fast paced environment. Customer service is very important when working at weddings, so that was always my number one goal when going out there and serving our customers. I always knew that customer experience was the most vital aspect of a wedding venues success.Having mentioned earlier, i left Stretton Manor Barn under the goal of finding a part-time job that would better suit my educational timetable, which led me on to Clay Cross McDonalds. I’ve been here since May 2022 and have continued to work here up until today. Having worked here for over two years now, the skills i have boosted, or new ones i have learnt, have been exponential and my confidence around workplace environments has increased tenfold. Throughout my time as a crew member, product knowledge was a key ingredient to my success at the company, memorising a wide range of products and ingredients is one of the many things that you must do in order to ensure maximum efficiency. From my start date up until now, I feel I have adapted exceptionally to how things are done at McDonalds, including how things have changed along the way. Just this past year, I have also been promoted to part of the delivery team, where we are responsible for the counting and ordering of stock, as well as putting the stock away once it arrives. I feel this role grants a major increase in importance and that we must do our jobs to perfection in order to keep the store well-stocked while also maintaining what we spend to keep the cash flow as positive as can be.
