The core technologies used in the role are Scala, Play Framework and the Slick data access library. At Telensa I have done extensive work on researching approaches and technologies to modernise an existing legacy monolithic platform in addition to delivering software. I have championed and introduced the decision to move to a Java based micro-services platform, using a function by function approach. I have also introduced Kafka and OSGi and Camel technologies and done some early stage research on using machine learning in the platform using Weka.I have been a member of projects moving functions to the micro-services architecture. As part of this I have recently done a large amount of work with Kafka, including Kafka Connect and Kafka Streams. It has also included work with Spring Boot, Spring Data, MongoDB and Docker.I have also worked on projects using OSGi as the architecture framework and delivered modules built with Apache Karaf, JAX-RS, CXF, JPA and Camel, with REST and SOAP endpoints.

At Kiddicare I have worked across the website infrastructure including the main e-commerce platform Websphere Commerce, the enterprise search engine Endeca, the CRM SalesForce, the ERP Navision and the database DB2.A major project has been to implement Apache Camel to provide integration between the front end website platform, ERP, enterprise search engine, reviews and recommendations providers, suppliers and third party marketers.Other major products have included a full redesign of the checkout process where I overhauled our payment integration for both credit cards and Paypal, and address lookup functionality.In addition there has been extensive work on the front end design which has required use of AngularJS, Javascript, JQuery, CSS and JSP. On the back end I have worked on the Websphere Commerce business logic and the EJB integration with DB2. I have also moved a number of processes from the Websphere business logic layer of the DB2 layer for performance.

At Accountz.com I have been primarily working with Swing on the GUI. This has included a large amount of customisation of the Swing components to provide less of a 'standard Java' look and feel to the application, and to provide new work flows to ease adoption for new users. This UI work was cross platform across Windows, Mac and Linux.

At Pershing, I provided several end to end full life cycle integration projects across legacy mainframes and commodity servers using Java, Scala and Algol languages. I have worked with data stores in relational and non relational databases especially SQL Server using JPA and JDBC. I have also worked with XML data using SAX and the Scala XML API.I used iText, JasperReports and JFreeChart to provide management reporting. I have also done some smaller automation tasks using Scala, Algol and Windows Powershell.
