Whipsnade Zoo A ZSL Conservation Zoo

8 months into my time at Whipsnade Zoo I was promoted to Visitor Activities Team Leader. In addition to my roles and responsibilities I had as a Visitor Activities Officer (VAO), my role as Team Leader involves a lot of additional responsibility, overseeing the permanent and seasonal Visitor Activities Officers in my team and our ~200 Visitor Welcome.

In my role as a VAO, I gave science communication talks about the different species at the zoo as well as the conservation work done by ZSL. I was responsible for content development of daily activities and seasonal events, as well as running educational courses for young people.

As a Performance Host (previously Guest Experience Host), I worked directly with the public to deliver science communication messages about the animals and the conservative work of London Aquarium, working independently and as part of a larger team to make sure our service is not only educational but also enjoyable for our guests.
