I got my first taste of construction as a 14 year old doing summer work for a local builder, which I continued throughout my education years. On completion of a BA in University of Limerick, I wanted to travel and see the world and spent some time working in several countries. It was in Australia that I knew the career path I wanted to pursue – the construction industry.On returning from my travels in 2004 I continued to work in the construction industry gaining invaluable experience. My background is in carpentry, and I’ve undertaken many roofing, 1st and 2nd fix projects. In 2006 I decided to branch out into bigger projects and contract work. Phelan Construction was established and to date my company has experienced an economic boom, a recession, an economic resurgence and a pandemic; while continuing to go from strength to strength.
