I am currently enrolled in the Police Foundations Program located at Northern College Timmins campus and pursuing a two-year diploma. Obtaining my high school diploma I graduated with a golden seal, and red seal, as well as the Governor General Award for outstanding community service. I am interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement and am open to opportunities that will allow me to utilize the skills I have acquired through my experiences.Taking part in a community-based career I have been exposed to various cultures, religions, and communities through organized volunteer work and personal inquiry. Allowing me to understand and appreciate different communities and the uniqueness of individuals. Skills necessary to become an effective officer are taught throughout the Police Foundations Program, including an understanding of communication techniques, criminal law, provincial law, municipal law, drug effects on behaviour, report and interviewing skills, traffic law, politics, Canadian history, understanding of physical fitness, mental health, and more. I have come to enjoy setting and working towards a goal(s) utilizing teamwork to effectively achieve what I (we) have set out to do and to complete it to the best of our abilities. Previous positions include part-time/full-time employment in a customer service position at Canadain Tire. Learning the fundamentals of what it means to have adult responsibilities I grew skills such as team collaboration, team building, time management, managing money, people skills, and destination techniques. Spending a semester in grade eleven volunteering at SABIC (Timmins Brain and Injury Centre) I learned to handle more complex situations. Developing techniques to cater to individuals' unique needs and communicating through various means, organizing and facilitating events with clients, and conducting well-fair calls checking in on clients. Meeting new people and learning new ways of thinking is another aspect of the course I have come to enjoy and plan to continue to expose myself to as many new experiences as I can.The skills I have obtained will allow me to enter the police force with integrity, knowledge, and work habits that will help mould me into a model cadet. I look forward to building upon my skills and growing my skills to better suit the environment that is a police constable.
